Corus Orthodontists in Vancouver, BC, invites applications for a motivated Orthodontic Assistant to join Braced in BC. The role involves assisting the orthodontist, patient care, and clinical support in a collaborative practice.

The successful candidate will be licensed as a Dental Assistant in BC, have orthodontics training, and demonstrate strong communication and time-management skills to support high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Dental Assistant (BC) certification is required.
  • 1+ year of experience as LDA in orthodontics is preferred.
  • Completion of Orthodontics Module is required.
  • Sensitivity in treating children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations is essential.
  • Experience with orthodontic software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist orthodontist during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide wide range of clinical patient care in a professional manner.
  • Perform sterilization, set up operatories, take x-rays/photos/scans.
  • Maintain accurate patient charts and records in PM system.
  • Instruct patients and educate families on care.
  • Provide reports to parents/guardians.
  • Perform other duties to support daily operations.

About the role:
The Certified Orthodontic Assistant is a key member of our clinical team, responsible for providing all aspects of clinical patient care in a professional, efficient, and caring manner. The Certified Orthodontic Assistant is involved in a wide range of patient care activities, including assisting the doctor during appointments, treating orthodontic patients, sterilization procedures, setting up the operatories, taking impressions and x-rays, and occasional minor lab work.

How You'll Make An Impact
  • Assist Orthodontist with consultations and all stages of orthodontic procedures such as direct bond bracket procedures, arch wire and appliance adjustments, and aligner appointments
  • Providing all aspects of clinical patient care in a professional, efficient, and caring manner
  • Sterilization procedures, setting up the operatories, taking x-rays, photos, and intraoral scans
  • Building positive relationships with patients, families, and coworkers to ensure the targeted outcome treatment remains on schedule
  • Enter detailed chart/record notations in the practice management system
  • Provide patient instruction/education
  • Provide reports to parents/guardians
  • Ability to perform other duties as required for the efficient operation of the practice
What you bring – qualifications:
  • Licensed Dental Assistant (formerly referred to as a Certified Dental Assistant/CDA in British Columbia) and licensed with BCCOHP.
  • 1+ years' experience as a Licensed Dental Assistant (formerly referred to as a Certified Dental Assistant/CDA in British Columbia)
  • Completion of the Orthodontics Module
  • Sensitive to treat children with special needs.
  • Good understanding of relevant health and safety regulations
  • Proficiency with orthodontic/dental management software systems is preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and rapport with patients, parents, doctors, fellow team members and the community
  • Keen attention-to-detail and time management skills
