Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for Unit 3G3 Surgery Program in Edmonton. The LPN will provide patient- and family-centred care on an Orthopedic/Spine unit, utilizing nursing processes and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires completion of an accredited LPN program, active or eligible CLHA registration, and BCLS-HCP. Medication calculation exams are required within orientation; shifts include days/evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• Successful candidate is expected to pass the medication calculation exam (80% score) within 14 days of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient and family centred care.
• Collaborate with an interprofessional health care team on the Unit 3G3 Surgery Program.
• Observe, monitor, and document changes in the patient’s physical, mental, and emotional state.
• Provide patient and family teaching and advocacy.
