Your Opportunity:

THIS IS A LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE – ORT

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Operating Room Technician (ORT) contributes to the assessment, planning, and performance of quality care for the patient in conjunction with the Registered Nurse, following the nursing process within surgical suites according to CLPNA, ORNAC, and CSA standards of practice. The LPN/ORT provides direct intraoperative care to patients in the OR through scrub and circulating roles, evaluates and modifies safe patient care, and acts as a patient advocate, linking units and the OR.

As an LPN, you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skills, and AHS policies and procedures. Your role is vital in providing safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, reflecting AHS's shared vision and values.

• Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call
• Salary Range: $28.93 - $37.90

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited LPN program
• Active or eligible registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Additional Requirements:

• Perioperative certification recognized by CLPNA
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift/pull/push >50 pounds, wear lead aprons
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in an inpatient surgical unit
• Experience in an operating room setting
• Job shadowing in the OR
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in a complex environment
