Job summary

FYidoctors – Georgian Bay – Mosley St, a part of FYihealth Group, is seeking an Optometric Assistant for a full-time fixed-term role through October 2027. You will greet patients, assist with pre-testing, guide eyewear selections, and support billing and scheduling in a fast-paced clinic.

You should have 3+ years optical experience, a CCOA designation if possible, and strong communication skills to deliver exceptional patient experiences in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in/out patients; engage in person, by phone, and by email.

• Take frame measurements and ensure proper fit and adjustments.
• Coordinate appointments and prepare prescription printouts.
• Manage billing and payments for patients and insurers.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and orders.

• Support clinic operations with additional duties as needed.

Description

Our FYidoctors - Georgian Bay - Mosley St clinic is looking for someone like you to bring your exceptional skills and experience to join us as an Optometric Assistant to fill an existing vacancy!

In this role, you'll enhance the lives of our patients every single day, delivering exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a dynamic, rewarding, and collaborative environment.

This position is a full-time fixed-term role until October 2027, working 30-40 hours per week. Our clinic is open Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, manage patient check in and check out and engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email
• Perform pre-testing to support comprehensive eye care
• Educate patients on eyewear options tailored to their lifestyle, assisting with frame selection to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform frame and facial measurements, ensuring proper fit and positioning of new eyewear, as well as repairs and adjustments
• Coordinate appointments, and prepare prescription printouts
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers and other third parties
• Assist with contact lens fittings and process contact lens orders
• Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience
• Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as required

What You Bring

• Past or current CCOA designation preferred
• Minimum 3 years optical experience required
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with technology and computers, including MS Office Suite
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for connecting with patients and delivering exceptional patient experiences
• A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team player with a growth mindset, able to manage changing priorities effectively
