FYidoctors Toronto clinic in Fairview Mall Drive is seeking an Optometric Assistant to join our team. This full-time role involves welcoming patients, performing pre-tests, assisting with eyewear choices, and coordinating appointments in a dynamic clinic setting.

You will support billing, frame measurements, and contact lens fittings while delivering exceptional patient experiences and collaborating with a team of eye-care professionals. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• CCOA designation preferred or compatible optical credentials.
• Minimum 3 years optical experience required.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with technology and computers (MS Office).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients.

Responsibilities

• Greet and manage patient check-in/out and engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email.
• Perform pre-testing to support comprehensive eye care.
• Educate patients on eyewear options and assist with frame selection.
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist.
• Take frame and facial measurements and ensure proper fit of eyewear.
• Coordinate appointments and prepare prescription printouts.
• Manage billing and payments for patients and insurers.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and orders.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and positive patient experience.
• Support clinic operations as required.

Our FYidoctors Toronto - Fairview Mall Driveclinic is looking for someone like you to bring your exceptional skills and experience to join us as an Optometric Assistant to fill an existing vacancy!

In this role, you’ll enhance the lives of our patients every single day, delivering exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a dynamic, rewarding, and collaborative environment.

This position is a full-time 30-40 hours per week. Our clinic is open Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, manage patient check in and check out and engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email
• Perform pre-testing to support comprehensive eye care
• Educate patients on eyewear options tailored to their lifestyle, assisting with frame selection to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform frame and facial measurements, ensuring proper fit and positioning of new eyewear, as well as repairs and adjustments
• Coordinate appointments, and prepare prescription printouts
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers and other third parties
• Assist with contact lens fittings and process contact lens orders
• Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience
• Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as required

What You Bring

• Past or current CCOA designation preferred
• Minimum 3 years optical experience required
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with technology and computers, including MS Office Suite
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for connecting with patients and delivering exceptional patient experiences
• A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team player with a growth mindset, able to manage changing priorities effectively
