Job summary

FYidoctors Grande Prairie clinic is seeking an Optometric Assistant to join our team. This full-time role (30-40 hours per week) supports eye care delivery in a dynamic, collaborative environment, with clinic hours Monday through Saturday.

You’ll greet patients, perform pre-testing, assist with eyewear selection, frame measurements, scheduling, and billing. A CCOA designation is preferred and at least three years in optics is required.

Qualifications

• Preference for CCOA designation.
• Minimum 3 years optical experience required.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office and computer systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in/out patients in person, by phone, and by email.
• Perform pre-testing to support comprehensive eye care.
• Educate patients on eyewear options and frame selection.
• Interpret optical prescriptions from the optometrist.
• Take frame and facial measurements for proper fit and adjustments.
• Coordinate appointments and prepare prescription printouts.
• Manage billing and payments for patients and insurers.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and orders.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and positive patient experiences.
• Support clinic operations with additional duties as required.

Our FYidoctors Grande Prairie clinic is looking for someone like you to bring your exceptional skills and experience to join us as an Optometric Assistant to fill an existing vacancy! In this role, you’ll enhance the lives of our patients every single day, delivering exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a dynamic, rewarding, and collaborative environment. This position is a full-time role working 30-40 hours per week. Our clinic is open Monday to Saturday.

What You’ll Do

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, manage patient check in and check out and engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email
• Perform pre-testing to support comprehensive eye care
• Educate patients on eyewear options tailored to their lifestyle, assisting with frame selection to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform frame and facial measurements, ensuring proper fit and positioning of new eyewear, as well as repairs and adjustments
• Coordinate appointments, and prepare prescription printouts
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers and other third parties
• Assist with contact lens fittings and process contact lens orders
• Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience
• Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as required

What You Bring

• Past or current CCOA designation preferred
• Minimum 3 years optical experience required
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with technology and computers, including MS Office Suite
