Job summary

FYidoctors Sherwood Park clinic is seeking an Optical Associate to join our team in a full-time role (30–40 hours/week). Our clinic operates Monday–Saturday and focuses on delivering exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a collaborative setting.

You will greet patients, help with frame selection, interpret prescriptions, take measurements, coordinate appointments, assist with contact lens fittings, and handle billing, while maintaining outstanding service and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in optical or retail environments preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficient with computers and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients in person, by phone, and by email.
• Educate patients on eyewear options and assist with frame selection.
• Interpret prescriptions from the optometrist.
• Take frame and facial measurements and ensure proper fit and adjustments.
• Coordinate appointments and prepare prescription printouts.
• Handle billing and payments with patients and insurers.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and orders.
• Deliver exceptional patient service and positive experience.
• Support clinic operations as required.

Job description

Our FYidoctors Sherwood Park clinic is looking for someone like you to bring your exceptional skills and experience and join us as an Optical Associate to fill an existing vacancy! This position is a full-time role working 30-40 hours per week. Our clinic is open Monday to Saturday.

In this role, you’ll enhance the lives of our patients every single day, delivering exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a dynamic, rewarding, and collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email
• Educate patients on eyewear options tailored to their lifestyle, assisting with frame selection to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform frame and facial measurements, ensuring proper fit and positioning of new eyewear, as well as repairs and adjustments
• Coordinate appointments, and prepare prescription printouts
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers and other third parties
• Assist with contact lens fittings and process contact lens orders
• Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience
• Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as required

What You Bring

• Previous optical experience or retail experience is considered an asset
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with technology and computers, including MS Office Suite
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for connecting with patients and delivering exceptional patient experiences
• A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team player with a growth mindset, able to manage changing priorities effectively
