Job summary

The Vision Clinic in Waterdown, ON is hiring an experienced dual licensed Optician to join our fast-paced retail optical team. This full-time role covers 30-40 hours weekly, including Saturdays, at 80 Dundas St. East.

You will interpret prescriptions, assist with lenses and frames, and deliver exceptional customer service. Candidates must be registered and licensed with the College of Opticians of Ontario, have strong computer and communication skills, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Registered and Licensed Optician in good standing with the College of Opticians of Ontario.
• Experience preferred and strong computer skills.
• Excellent communication and professional appearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and pre-screen clients.
• Evaluate and interpret prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists.
• Assist with selection and fitting of lenses, frames, and contact lenses.
• Create work orders for the lab and ensure accurate records.
• Maintain health care cleanliness and general store operations.

The Vision Clinic is currently seeking an Optician in to work in a fast-paced retail optical with a dynamic team. 13 locations within the Niagara and Hamilton regions and over 30 years in business.

Now hiring for experienced dual Licensed Optician for our Waterdown location.

Duties include:

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Pre-screen clients to help evaluate their vision needs
• Evaluate and interpret prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists based on patient needs within their scope of practice
• Take and record accurate details of patient’s optical and facial particulars to source the best fit and style
• Assist clients with the selection and fitting of prescription contact lenses, spectacle lenses, frames, and sunglasses
• Work with provided equipment to adjust or design contact lenses and frames for clients
• Complete additional daily office tasks such a record keeping, insurance payment processing, maintaining accurate inventory, and tracking requests
• Create work orders for the lab and provide all relevant information for manufacturing lenses
• All tasks associated with contact lens fitting and evaluations
• Maintain a safe and exceptional level of health care cleanliness at all times
• General office duties to support the efficiency and smooth operation of the store
• Duties as required

Requirements:

• Registered and Licensed Optician in good standing with the College of Opticians of Ontario
• Experience preferred
• Strong computer knowledge and administrative abilities
• Excellent communication skills; pleasant telephone manner
• Fashionable, professional attire
• Must have own transportation
