Job summary

Bluewater District School Board in Owen Sound is seeking a Temporary Library Clerk on a 0.05 FTE (1.75 hours/week) for a 10-month schedule. One half day, bi-weekly, with end dates to be determined based on incumbent status.

Supervisor: School Principal. The role involves cataloguing, circulation, and administrative support within the library, with French language reading/writing as an asset.

Qualifications

• College diploma or certificate related to library technician program.
• Ability to read and write French for cataloguing purposes.
• Experience with LexwinLibrary Software.
• Proven interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
• Proven computer literacy, accurate keyboarding skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an effective library circulation system that facilitates searching, cataloguing and inventory control.
• Maintain a schedule of library bookings.
• Maintain physical organization of library resources.
• Provide support for administrative/clerical tasks such as ordering books or supplies, coordinating volunteer schedules for volunteer students and parents working in the library/resource area.
• Assist with promotional activities (book fairs) during regular working hours.
• May be assigned to supervise library during noon hours or recess.
