Job summary

Ledcor Highways Ltd. in Sault Ste. Marie is seeking motivated team players for winter and seasonal maintenance of Ontario highways. You will operate snowplow trucks and wheel loaders and contribute to safety on local highways, with several premium pay items and a union-friendly environment.

Local applicants are preferred, shifts include nights and on-call work, and advancement opportunities exist within the organization. A DZ or AZ license and a strong safety mindset are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs.
• AZ or DZ drivers license with air endorsement
• Provide a copy of a 3-year commercial drivers abstract
• Previous experience operating a snowplow truck and/or wheel loader is a strong asset

Premiums

• $3/hour AZ Premium when directed to operate equipment that require AZ
• $5/hour Grader Operator premium (does not apply to employees holding the Grader Operator classification
• $5/hour Snow plow premium
• $1/hr Night shift premium

Work Conditions

• Local applicants will be given preference due to the location of the work
• As we respond to various weather patterns, shift work, on-call, and night shift will be required
• Work schedules will consist of either 5 consecutive days followed by 2 days off or 6 consecutive days followed by 1 day off, with daily shifts lasting 8 to 12 hours (Shop specific)
• CLAC union position

Essential Responsibilities

• Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
• Maintain Ontario Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with Labourer duties (pothole repair, guardrail repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
• Work outside in all weather conditions

Required Skills

• Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs. on a regular basis, bending, kneeling, crouching etc.
• Valid AZ or DZ drivers license with air endorsement
• Provide a copy of a 3-year commercial drivers abstract
• Previous experience operating a snowplow truck and/or wheel loader is a strong asset
