Job summary

GeologicAI is seeking an Operations Technology Systems Technician to deploy, maintain, and optimize OT infrastructure across mobile scanning and fixed facilities. You will manage servers, PLCs, and OT networks, ensuring high availability and secure operations in field environments.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and field operations, with a focus on documentation, testing, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced hardware build setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification or bachelor’s degree in IT/OT, Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of IPv4 networking, Windows domain architecture, and Linux/Windows operating systems.
  • Experience racking enterprise servers and configuring host management interfaces.
  • Familiarity with PLC deployment and alarm management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Rack, integrate, and maintain industrial computing systems, enterprise server infrastructure, and PLCs across mobile scanning units.
  • Develop test procedures and execute to deliver fault-free systems.
  • Identify operational issues through data analysis and alarm management, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Aid in deployment and configuration of OT networks using VLANs, subnetting, and routing.
  • Manage baseline images, OS installations (Windows and Linux), and Windows Domain environments.
  • Utilize host management tools for remote server administration and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee cybersecurity hygiene across OT environment including hardening, patch governance, and access control.
  • Ensure integration teams follow security standards and SOC 2 controls.
  • Communicate with Controls Engineers, Manufacturing, and Field Operations about builds and status.
  • Provide structured documentation for test results, configurations, and build readiness.
  • Develop field-use documentation and playbooks for operations staff.

What Role Will You Play in Our Team

The Operations Technology Systems Technician function at GeologicAI focuses on deploying, maintaining, and optimizing our operational technology infrastructure, including server hardware, industrial networks, and process control systems within our mobile platforms and fixed facilities. Responsibilities typically include racking and configuring enterprise servers, managing Windows domain architecture, deploying PLCs, managing critical system alarms, and documentation. You will also practice and enforce strong cybersecurity habits such as network segmentation, patching, and access control. The role involves collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and field operations teams to ensure our systems are resilient, securely integrated, and highly available in the field.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

System Deployment & Optimization:

  • Rack, integrate, and maintain industrial computing systems, enterprise server infrastructure, and PLCs, safety systems and associated instruments across our fleet of mobile scanning units.
  • Develop test procedures and execute so that systems are delivered fault free.
  • Identify operational issues through data analysis and alarm management, developing mitigation strategies to ensure maximum uptime. Networking & Infrastructure Upgrades:
  • Aid in the deployment and configuration of local OT networks, utilizing strong IPv4 foundational skills (VLANs, subnetting, routing).
  • Manage baseline images, operating system installations (Windows and Linux), and Windows Domain environments to support field operations.
  • Utilize host management tools for remote server administration and troubleshooting. Cybersecurity & System Protection:
  • Oversee and guide strong cybersecurity hygiene across the OT environment, including system hardening, patch governance, and access control enforcement.
  • Ensure integration teams follow established security standards and best practices for industrial control systems, as well as help maintain SOC 2 controls.
  • Communicate effectively with Controls Engineers, Manufacturing/Assembly Teams, and Field Operations regarding ongoing builds, system status, and process improvements.
  • Provide structured documentation for test results, network configurations, and build readiness.
  • Develop robust field-use documentation and operational playbooks to ensure both technical and field staff have the required manuals to operate and support deployed systems.

Skills

  • Technical Skills: Strong aptitude in building and administering technical computing systems. Deep understanding of IPv4 networking, Windows domain architecture, and both Windows and Linux operating systems. Experience in racking enterprise servers and utilizing host management interfaces. Familiarity with PLC deployment and alarm management systems.
  • Cybersecurity Awareness: Knowledge of and ability to practice OT cybersecurity best practices (e.g., system hardening, patching, network segmentation, principle of least privilege).
  • Communication & Collaboration Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with engineering and production trades to resolve integration challenges.
  • Personal Attributes: Tech-savvy, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fastpaced hardware build environment. Passionate about problem-solving, quality, and continuous improvement.

  • Adaptability & Hands-On Focus: Comfort with working in a shop/production floor environment, adapting to new tools, and taking a hands-on approach to hardware integration (including physical wiring and panel integration).
  • High Motivation & Initiative: Self-motivated, eager to gain hands-on experience, and willing to take initiative in learning and problem-solving within mobile platforms and modular systems.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking: Ability to approach technical challenges logically, interpret electrical schematics, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems and network connectivity issues.
  • Strong Safety Mindset: Demonstrating a personal commitment to safety and integrating safe practices into daily tasks, especially when working with power tools or in confined spaces.
  • Curiosity and Willingness to Learn: A desire to deepen expertise in our processes, procedures, and bring new outside skills to our team.

Education Requirements

Associate degree, technical certification, or bachelor’s degree in IT/OT systems, Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent technical field.
