Guardteck Security is seeking a vigilant security professional to maintain safety and order at client sites in British Columbia. The role requires standing for long periods, strict adherence to procedures, and proactive incident handling.

Qualifications

• Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8–12 hours).
• Valid BC Security license is required.
• Valid OFA 1 certificate is required.
• Professional conduct and appearance are essential.
• Minimum 1 year of prior security experience.
• Experience in Loss Prevention or Retail Security is an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to take proactive approaches on site.
• Ability to retain information provided by management staff.
• Receptive to constructive feedback.
• Calm handling of highly stressful emergencies.
• Make sound decisions under duress when needed.
• Comfortable working in a busy, outdoor/indoor environment.
• Demonstrates high attention to detail and observational awareness.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with property standards, rules, and regulations.
• Use tact and diplomacy while on duty.
• Respond to medical emergencies with First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.
• Enforce access control procedures.
• Understand emergency and standard operating procedures.
• Deal with trespassers safely and fairly.
• Prepare incident reports and keep memo books updated.
• Conduct periodic patrols by foot.
• Investigate incidents and write detailed reports.
• Ensure safety of patrons and clients on site.
• De-escalate crisis situations and assist emergency personnel.
• Support daily operations as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner


• Ability to utilize tact and diplomacy when on duty


• Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive


• Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures


• Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures


• Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner


• Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters


• Able to conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot


• Investigate incidents and occurrences


• Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports


• Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property


• De-escalate emergency/crisis situations


• Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel


• Access control, line management, customer service


• Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed

Qualifications & Skills

• Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8-12 hours)


• Valid BC Security license


• Valid OFA 1 certificate


• Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism


• Must have at least 1 year of prior Security experience


• Experience in Loss Prevention / Retail Security is considered an asset


• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills


• Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal


• Must be able to take a Proactive approach to all onsite situations


• Must be capable of retaining all relevant information provided by management and designated staff


• Able to take constructive feedback where appropriate


• Must be unafraid to attend highly stressful emergency situations


• Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.


• Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress


• Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area


• Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness


• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
