Job summary

Guardteck Security is actively seeking a vigilant Security Officer to protect client properties throughout the Vancouver area. The role requires a valid BC Security License, 1+ year of security experience, and a professional demeanor to maintain safety and compliance on site.

We offer growth opportunities within a committed team, with emphasis on clear communication, incident reporting, and prompt response to emergencies. This position is based on site in Vancouver, BC.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of security experience.
  • Must hold a valid BC Security license (or equivalent).
  • Proven professionalism and ability to stay calm in emergencies.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with property standards and enforce rules.
  • Respond to medical emergencies with First Aid/CPR/AED when needed.
  • Control access and monitor patrols on foot or by vehicle.
  • Prepare incident reports and maintain detailed memo books.
  • De-escalate crises and coordinate with emergency personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner

  • Ability to utilize tact and diplomacy when on duty

  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive

  • Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures

  • Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures

  • Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner

  • Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters

  • Able to conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot

  • Investigate incidents and occurrences

  • Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports

  • Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property

  • De-escalate emergency/crisis situations

  • Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel

  • Access control, line management, customer service

  • Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed


Qualifications & Skills


  • Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8-12 hours)

  • Valid BC Security license

  • Valid OFA 1 certificate

  • Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism

  • Must have at least 1 year of prior Security experience

  • Experience in Loss Prevention / Retail Security is considered an asset

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal

  • Must be able to take a Proactive approach to all onsite situations

  • Must be capable of retaining all relevant information provided by management and designated staff

  • Able to take constructive feedback where appropriate

  • Must be unafraid to attend highly stressful emergency situations

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.

  • Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress

  • Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area

  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness

  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team

British Columbia Security License
