Job summary

ABC Recycling Ltd. in Grande Prairie, AB is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee daily metal recycling facility operations. You will lead the yard crew, ensure safety, drive productivity, and manage costs while ensuring policy compliance.

You will coordinate site activities, train staff, and optimize material flow to meet company standards. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a supervisory role in heavy industry, strong people and safety leadership, and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a heavy industrial, construction, recycling, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• Strong people-management, coaching, and performance-management skills, with a demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Strong understanding of heavy equipment and industrial operations; machine operating experience is considered an asset but is not required.
• Experience coordinating operational activities, including inspections, corrective actions, material flow, inventory management, and shipment reconciliation.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage contractors and build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.

• Assists in the development and implementation of facility standard operating procedures.
• Monitors operational performance and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Measures, tracks, and reports operational and service-related data.
• Supports projects and special assignments as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

ABC Recycling is seeking an Operations Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our metal recycling facility in Grande Prairie, AB. The job holder will provide daily directions and leadership to the yard crew to achieve safety, quality, productivity and cost objectives. This position also ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures.
