Job summary

Paramount Resources Ltd. in Alberta is seeking an Operations Engineering Student for a 4-month summer work term starting May 2027 in our Central Alhambra Region.

You’ll work in field operations, monitor wells and pipelines, learn equipment and processing facilities, and collaborate with Operations, Production, and Exploitation teams to support safe, efficient operations. Relocation to the Rocky Mountain House area may be required.

Qualifications

• Currently in 2nd or 3rd year of Mechanical, Petroleum, Energy, Chemical, or Oil & Gas Engineering.
• Available for the full duration of the work term (May 2027 for four months).
• Reside in Rocky Mountain House, Sylvan Lake or willing to relocate for term.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, inspect, troubleshoot and optimize wells, testing, compressors and lifts.
• Learn equipment, processing facilities and recovery steps at sites.
• Collaborate with Operations, Production and Exploitation teams to support field operations.
• Assist with project activities such as compliance tasks, data capture and asset management.
• Interpret and build P&ID’s for troubleshooting, turnarounds and expansions.

About this Opportunity:

We are looking for an Operations Engineering Student who is currently in their 2nd or 3rd year of Engineering studies for a summer work term in our Central Alhambra Region.

Paramount believes that a strong understanding of field operations is an invaluable asset for engineering students who wish to have a successful career in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will work in field operations, learning the functions and operations of equipment in the field as well as processing facilities. This position will allow the student to learn first‑hand about the petroleum industry through hands‑on work experience.

The summer student term will commence in May 2027 and last for a four-month term. The successful candidates must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the Rocky Mountain House, Leslieville or Sylvan Lake area for their work term.

What you’ll be doing:

• You will be supervised and mentored by a Senior Engineer within the group for your work term
• You will monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and optimize producing wells, well testing, compressors, lifts, and pipeline pigging to ensure safe and efficient operations
• You will develop knowledge and skills of the equipment and recovery steps of our operational sites and facilities
• You will collaborate with our Operations, Production, and Exploitation teams to support our field operations
• You will assist Operations Engineers with various project related activities such as compliance tasks, data capturing, and asset management
• You will be interpreting and building P&ID’s for supporting troubleshooting, turnarounds, and plant expansions

Who you are:

• You are currently enrolled in your 2nd or 3rd year of Mechanical, Petroleum, Energy, Chemical, or Oil & Gas Engineering Program
• You are currently enrolled at one of the following post‑secondary institutions: University of Calgary, University of Alberta, University of Saskatchewan, Queens, or any other Canadian post‑secondary with an accredited Engineering Program
• You are able to work effectively in a team environment.
• You are someone who values feedback as a learning tool.
• You are motivated, hard‑working and determined to achieve superior results.
• You are focused and have a keen attention to detail.
• Previous oil and gas experience is not required, however it is considered an asset
• You have:a strong safety mindsetstrong computer skills including data analysis and MS Office skillsdemonstrated effective decision‑making skillsgood communication and presentation skills

• You are available to work the full duration of the outlined work term
• You are currently residing in Rocky Mountain House, Sylvan Lake, or willing to relocate for your work term
• You are legally entitiled to work in Canada without restriction, by way of one of the following:Canadian CitizenshipPermanent Residency Valid work permit
