Job summary

MatchBox Consulting Group seeks an Operational Technology Network Engineer (EIT) to support one of BC's largest utility providers. This 24-month contract will involve ICS/OT networks, cybersecurity, and capital projects from design through commissioning.

Work alongside experienced engineers in a hybrid Burnaby setting, contributing to secure OT environments, maintaining documentation, and collaborating across teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at time of application.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing technical documentation and reports.
  • Ability to present technical information to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and engineering drawing standards.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support OT/ICS design from design through commissioning.
  • Design, implement, and support ICS and OT network solutions.
  • Develop and maintain OT network architectures for operational and cybersecurity needs.
  • Integrate ICs devices and communication equipment into plant LANs.
  • Participate in design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and field implementation.

Operational Technology Engineer (EIT)

Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)

Duration: 24-Month Contract

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an Operational Technology (OT) Network Engineer (EIT) to support one of British Columbia's largest utility providers. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training to contribute to critical generation infrastructure projects involving industrial control systems, operational technology networks, and cybersecurity.

Working alongside experienced engineering professionals, you'll support capital projects from design through commissioning while helping maintain reliable, secure, and resilient operational technology environments.

Responsibilities
  • Support Generation Capital Project OT Services from design through implementation and commissioning.
  • Design, implement, and support Industrial Control System (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) network solutions.
  • Develop and maintain OT network architectures to support operational, cybersecurity, reliability, and business requirements.
  • Integrate ICs devices and communication equipment into plant local area networks.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and field implementation activities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, technology, cybersecurity, and vendor teams to develop technical solutions.
  • Maintain engineering drawings and network documentation using AutoCAD.
  • Support NERC CIP compliance activities, including technical assessments, drawing reviews, and engineering documentation updates.
  • Create technical procedures, work instructions, and job aids.
  • Track project deliverables, facilitate meetings, document decisions, and provide periodic field support.

Nice to Haves
  • Familiarity with Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) networks.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, maintenance programs, or industrial infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP standards and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Visio skills.Experience with AutoCAD and engineering drawing standards.
