About the Role

FX IT supports and develops systems and processes for the Global Banking and Markets FX business worldwide. The team is based in Hong Kong, London, New York, and Toronto.

The candidate will be responsible for production management of HSBC’s FX electronic trading systems, primarily supporting the New York online day, and will be part of regional and global teams providing follow-the-sun operational support across Europe and Asia under a DevOps IT service delivery model.

This role focuses on providing business-facing support to the FX Trading, Sales, Quants, and Middle Office desks based in New York. Weekend and holiday support on a rota basis will be required.

The primary FX trading platforms are in-house built systems.

Responsibilities
  • Operate FX electronic market making and order management systems daily
  • Provide front-line support for a 24/5.5 production environment for internal and external clients
  • Log and resolve production incidents, service requests, and problems
  • Use SQL queries for ad-hoc information and problem resolution
  • Maintain an information repository for support materials
  • Participate in shift rotations, covering hours from 08:00 to 19:30 New York time, including some bank holidays
  • Provide incident and problem management
  • Perform weekend application upgrades, configurations, and patches
  • Communicate with clients about system status and solutions, documenting activities for future reference
  • Manage communication with third-party vendors
  • Monitor alerts proactively to respond to potential incidents
  • Support Sunday afternoon health checks and FX market open in Asia
  • Develop tools to assist daily operations
Typical Day
  • Monitor system health using tools like Geneos and automated alerts
  • Respond to user queries from clients, sales, traders, and quants
  • Perform DevOps tasks such as service migration and setup
  • Conduct daily handovers with EMEA and APAC teams as applicable
  • Manage incidents and coordinate with other teams
  • Perform server housekeeping and review automation processes
