Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking an experienced Registered Practical Nurse for operating room care. The successful candidate will provide primary care to OR patients, perform assessments, interventions, patient education and advocacy, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to uphold patient-focused care.

Candidates must hold Ontario registration, current B.C.L.S., and have post-graduate OR training with OR experience.

Qualifications

• Current Ontario Registration with College of Nurses is required.
• B.C.L.S. Certificate is required.
• Post-graduate OR certificate completed is required.
• Current or recent OR experience is required.
• Physical assessment course is required.
• Working knowledge of aseptic technique is expected.
• Ability to make decisions and work under stress is required.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Demonstrated knowledge of person-centred care approach and principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care for Operating Room patients.
• Perform assessment, intervention, education and patient advocacy.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient-focused care.
