Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR), part of the Glencore Group, is seeking a Mine Operations Supervisor to oversee the operations crew in a safe, productive open pit setting on a 4x4 day/night rotation in British Columbia.

You will lead with strong communication, drive continuous improvement, and empower the team. Candidates should have an Open Pit Shift Boss certificate and several years of supervisory mining experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Open Pit Shift Boss certificate.
• Minimum three years of demonstrated ability leading operational activities in an open pit mining environment.
• Understanding of Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC.
• Exposure to Wenco Dispatch system would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
• Lead and empower employees in achieving operating targets and improve work performance and efficiency through mentorship, feedback and achieving safe operating targets.
• Manage and optimize truck, shovel, drilling, and blasting functions to improve production and minimize operating costs.
• Administer the collective agreement, safety, and mine and environmental regulations in a manner consistent with policies and procedures.
• Read and understand maps along with mine plans, coordinate mining activities with engineers and maintenance personnel.
• Participate in industrial relations and safety investigations.
