Job summary

Cam Tran in Colborne, Ontario, is seeking an Electrical Designer to join the Engineering team onsite. You will design and develop distribution transformers, ensuring compliance with IEEE, CSA, and customer specs, and prepare detailed calculations and drawings.

The role requires 3+ years in electrical design for transformer equipment, proficiency with CAD/FEA/simulation, and collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree or diploma in Drafting, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field (preferred).
• 3+ years experience as a designer in electrical distribution equipment environment (prefer transformers).
• Proficiency in engineering design and analysis tools and knowledge of applicable standards (IEEE, CSA, ANSI, IEC).

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate transformer electrical configurations up to 35 kV (high/low voltage winding arrangements).
• Check designs against performance criteria: losses, impedance, voltage regulation, flux and current densities.
• Define major components: tap changers, bushings, arrestors, terminals, accessories.
• Prepare technical design documents: connection diagrams, nameplates, BOMs.
