Job summary

Metrolinx is seeking a Construction Management Field Specialist to join our Capital Projects Group. The role is site-based, with a rotating shift including evenings and weekends, and travel to project sites across the GO Expansion network in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

You will oversee safety, quality and engineering compliance on stations and civils, support coordination between Delivery Teams and operations, and contribute to schedules, risk mitigation and best practices.

Qualifications

• Completion of a degree or diploma in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Trades, Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline is an asset.
• Progressive experience in planning, design, construction, construction supervision, construction safety and administration of large infrastructure projects.
• A valid Ontario Class G driver's license is required to travel to project locations and maintain a good driving record.
• Experience with contracts, change variations and procurement models (P3, AFP, Alliance, DBB) is an asset.
• Experience in Owner/Constructor environments and CROR qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake site coverage and provide site presence emphasizing safety, quality, environment and compliance.
• Coordinate handovers and inspections between project delivery teams and asset operators.
• Monitor day-to-day construction activities and review lookaheads, dashboards and workplans.
• Support deconfliction of overlapping works among contractors, delivery teams and operations.
• Track site progress and production; report against project schedules and resource utilization.
• Provide construction and project management expertise into policies, procedures and design reviews.
• Participate in safety engagements with contractors and project teams; reinforce safety expectations.
• Identify and resolve health and safety incidents; escalate high-profile issues as needed.
• Develop relationships with external consultants and stakeholders to coordinate overlapping work safely and compliantly.
