Job summary

OPENLANE is seeking an Automotive Service Technician apprentice to diagnose, repair, maintain, and inspect vehicles. You will gain experience in diagnostics and repairs while supporting the team with inspections, maintenance, and shop duties.

Flexible scheduling, including Saturdays, may be required. The role requires an Automotive Service Technician education or certification, 1-3 years of hands-on experience, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Education or Certification as an Automotive Service Technician.
• 1-3 years of experience in repair and service of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems on a variety of vehicles.
• Valid driver's abstract.
• Basic computer skills & proficient smartphone use.
• A proactive self-starter with strong communication and problem-solving skills and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle Inspections: Perform pre- and post-sale inspections (including test drives), frame inspections, and general vehicle inspections.
• General Maintenance: Conduct oil and fluid changes, tire changes, and other routine maintenance tasks.
• Repair Services: Assist with brake jobs, exhaust system repairs, front-end alignments, ball joint replacements, air conditioning service, and maintenance of auction vehicles.
• Shop Support: Complete general shop maintenance, move vehicles, and assist other technicians with complex repairs to expand your knowledge and experience.
• Customer Service: (May) Assist with sourcing parts, providing quotes, and completing work orders.
