Job summary

Johnson Electric is seeking an Automation Systems Designer to design and analyze mechanical systems for robotic cells and assembly lines. You will contribute to prototype and production projects, creating precise drawings and BOMs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role focuses on applying pneumatic and electrical design concepts, with an emphasis on manufacturability and maintainability in an onsite Ancaster facility.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in special purpose equipment and/or automation design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience with robotic cells and assembly systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems for robots, assembly systems, production gauges and jigs.
• Review drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform engineering calculations related to strength, speeds, temperature and force.
• Ensure designs comply with machine safety standards and customer requirements.
• Produce working drawings and BOMs using SolidWorks.
