School District 71 (Comox Valley) invites applications for a temporary 1.0 FTE Grades 10-12 Online Learning Counsellor to support mental health, online and in-class instruction, and student graduation planning.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s in educational counselling or related field, with secondary-level counselling experience and proficiency in Brightspace, MyEd, Zoom, and Teams to enhance student learning and transitions to postsecondary pathways.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in educational counselling, psychology or related field.
• Experience counselling at the secondary level (10-12 and adults).
• Experience developing online resources for students and parents within counselling portfolio.
• Ability to utilize Brightspace, MyEd, Zoom, Teams for learning support.
• Experience supporting adults on the pathway to graduation or upgrading.

Responsabilités

• Provide mental health support to students online and in person.
• Lead online and in-person classes about mental health and mindfulness.
• Develop and manage behavior and mental health IEPs.
• Support staff with proactive behavior plans for on-site and distance learning.
• Assist students and families with school-to-community transitions and post‑secondary opportunities.
• Provide crisis support and referrals to local agencies.
• Counsel students on post-secondary opportunities related to graduation planning.
• Liaise with secondary and post-secondary institutions for cross/dual enrollment.
• Advise and register students in graduation programs, including Adult Graduation.
• Maintain bursary and scholarship information and support awards committee.
• Coordinate provincial exam writing sessions offered by NIDES.
• Support and attend school-based team meetings (Grades 10-12).
• Maintain accurate student transcripts and records.
