Northern Lights College is hiring a temporary part-time instructor to deliver IHSW 102 – The Indigenous Family and Parenting. The course runs January 4 to April 30, 2027, with six hours of instruction weekly and online delivery via Microsoft Teams.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree (or PhD) in Social Work or related field, demonstrate experience with Indigenous communities, and have prior online teaching experience.

Reporting to: Dean, Health Sciences & Human Services
Salary: $50.07 – $56.75 per hour depending on experience and qualifications in accordance with the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.
Description: NLC's Indigenous Human Service Worker Certificate (IHSW) prepare graduates for employment as a Human Service Worker, with a focus on serving Indigenous people. Students develop culturally appropriate knowledge, skills, and values while working with individuals, groups, and communities.

NLC is seeking a temporary part-time instructor to deliver the following course:
IHSW 102 – The Indigenous Family and Parenting
This course provides an overview of Indigenous families from historical and contemporary perspectives with an emphasis on parenting practices, issues, and applications. The course will include the following modules: Indigenous perspectives on family and parenting; personal histories and experiences of parenting; the effects of colonization on the Indigenous family system; parenting stressors; family resiliency, attitudes, skills and practices for healthy parenting, parenting and self care; parent-education programs.
Delivery: this course will be delivered synchronously online via Microsoft Teams.
