AbbVie Canada is seeking an Oncology Therapeutic Specialist to join our commercial sales team. This role is preferably based in Toronto Center or the GTA, covering Toronto Center and Ontario West. The focus will be on Oncologists treating Solid Tumors.

The Oncology Therapeutic Specialist will develop robust business plans to execute brand strategies, deliver sales performance, and build strong customer relationships. They will support customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales, always placing the patient at the center and operating within AbbVie's policies and legal regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed business goals.
  • Create pre-call plans and evaluate post-call outcomes to improve sales effectiveness. Handle objections logically and rationally to close sales.
  • Support key stakeholders' needs and expectations proactively to build trusted relationships.
  • Implement regional account plans to meet metrics and optimize coverage of key customers.
  • Continuously learn about customer needs, market landscape, patient journey, competitors, and clinical data; share insights with team members to align strategies.
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition and develop disease state experts and advocates to enhance brand performance.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a Specialty Sales role within the pharmaceutical industry, with oncology experience, especially in Solid Tumors preferred.
  • Deep scientific and therapeutic knowledge in oncology and the Canadian Oncology sector.
  • Experience in physician/account-based selling, medical education, or marketing is preferred.
  • Strong key account management and sales track record; excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt sales approach based on customer behavior.
  • Recognized as an expert with in-depth knowledge of oncology products and competitors.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and proficiency with business tools.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment and to offer innovative solutions.
  • Credibility and respect among peers; experience in leadership roles.
  • Ability to leverage findings for sales strategy development.

Essential skills & abilities:

  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable with technology and various tools/systems.
  • Availability for evening/weekend work and overnight travel (~20-30%).
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.

Key in-field team competencies:

  • Strategic thinking for territory and account planning.
  • Sound business judgment and ability to predict outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills for data assessment and decision-making.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
