AbbVie Canada is seeking an Oncology Therapeutic Specialist to join our commercial sales team. Ideally based in Alberta or Vancouver, covering British Columbia and Alberta. The role focuses on Oncologists treating Solid Tumors.

The Oncology Therapeutic Specialist will develop business plans aligned with brand strategies, deliver sales performance, and build strong customer relationships. They will support customer needs to maximize sales, prioritize patient-centered efforts, and operate within AbbVie's policies and legal frameworks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales targets, brand KPIs, and marketing objectives.
  • Prepare pre-call plans and evaluate post-call outcomes to improve sales effectiveness. Handle objections logically to close sales.
  • Support key stakeholders' needs and expectations to build trusted relationships.
  • Implement regional account plans to meet metrics and optimize customer coverage.
  • Understand customer needs, market landscape, patient journey, competitors, and share insights with the team to adapt strategies.
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition and develop disease state experts and advocates to enhance brand performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a Specialty Sales role within pharma, with oncology experience, especially in Solid Tumors preferred.
  • Deep scientific and therapeutic knowledge of oncology and the Canadian sector.
  • Experience in physician/account-based selling, medical education, or marketing preferred.
  • Strong sales record and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt selling approach to customer behavior.
  • Recognized as an oncology product and scientific expert.
  • Business acumen with strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Innovative, proactive, and credible among peers.
  • Leadership experience and ability to leverage data for sales strategies.

Essential skills & abilities:

  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and technology tools.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel overnight (~20-30%).
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.

Key in-field team competencies:

  • Strategic thinking for territory and account planning.
  • Sound business judgment and market assessment skills.
  • Analytical skills for data-driven decision making.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with team members.

Additional Information: One position for Western Canada, location flexible between Alberta and BC.
