Job summary

Mara Renewables Corporation (Mara) seeks a hands-on maintenance professional based in Dartmouth to keep laboratory and pilot plant equipment safe, reliable, and ready for research teams. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with R&D, Analytics, Fermentation, and other groups while prioritizing safety and continuous improvement within our on-site facility.

The role reports to the Director of Engineering Projects and involves coordinating external vendors,

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in mechanical, electromechanical, industrial maintenance, instrumentation or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on maintenance in lab/pilot plant/pharma/biotech or similar settings.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment including fermenters, centrifuges, filtration systems, and analytical gear.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with pumps, motors, valves, piping, seals, rotating equipment.
• Ability to investigate root causes and implement durable repairs.
• Experience planning preventative maintenance and maintaining equipment records.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair lab and pilot plant equipment (fermenters, centrifuges, pumps, filtration, process vessels).
• Carry out preventative maintenance and implement improvements to reduce recurring failures.
• Support analytical equipment maintenance and coordinate servicing with vendors.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules, work orders, records, and spare parts inventory.
• Support utility infrastructure (air, chilled water, piping).
• Collaborate with lab teams to identify issues and prioritize maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate external vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers for specialist support.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, upgrades, and safe facility improvements.
