Job summary

Bird Nason Contracting Group in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, is seeking local Journeyperson or Apprentice Ironworkers to join our DOW Chemical project. You will unload, assemble rigging, and position steel with a focus on safety and teamwork.

This role offers 10-hour days, 14 on/7 off, with on-site work and opportunities to advance into lead roles while adhering to EH&S standards and site-specific procedures.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson or Apprentice Ironworker Certificate.
  • Experience in industrial or construction.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, bills of materials, and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed.
  • Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials.
  • Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios.
  • Position steel units, align holes, and insert temporary bolts.
  • Assemble and erect prefabricated metal structures.
  • Ensure safe work practices, EH&S procedures, and OH&S compliance are followed on site.
