Job summary

ALS Limited in Kamloops, BC, Canada, is hiring a General Labour Technician for a 6-Month Contract. The role involves preparing client samples, performing test work, maintaining logs, and ensuring safety and quality in a lab environment.

Responsibilities include operating lab equipment, following procedures, and assisting with data entry and sample handling. The position requires Grade 12, basic computer skills, and a willingness to learn. On-site role with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Good communication and hand-coordination skills.
• Good command of the English language.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Forklift licence or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Capable of sieving, crushing, homogenizing and splitting samples utilizing Ro-Tap, Gilson screen, jaw crusher and cone crusher;
• Able to complete test work using Bond rod mills and ball mills;
• Able to complete supervised test work using drop weight tester, abrasion tester, Bond low-impact test and point loader tester;
• Maintain own production log, i.e., timecards;
• Perform general cleaning duties to maintain lab cleanliness;
• Be familiar with safety rules for the lab and sample preparation;
• Handle compositing instructions;
• Perform basic routine inspections of equipment;
• Have a basic understanding of the electronic computer sample database;
• Perform screen analysis;
• Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
