Job summary

Strategic HR Services is seeking a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to join a large construction project in the GTA. The CSO will monitor, train, and enforce all Health and Safety programs on site and ensure compliance with OHSA requirements in Ontario.

Duties include conducting inspections, site-specific health and safety orientations, risk assessments, and the development and review of safe work practices and procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of general construction experience
• 3+ years of Health and Safety work experience in the construction industry
• A solid understanding of the OH&S regulations for the province of Ontario
• Motivated to obtain or currently working towards NCSO Certification
• Current First Aid certificate
• Proficiency with computers, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other common applications
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections to ensure equipment, materials, and processes do not present a safety, health or environmental hazard
• Conduct site specific Health & Safety Orientations
• Assist withthe development of site specific OHS policies and programs
• Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
• Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures
• Assist in the incident investigation process when necessary
• Assist with the development and review of job hazard assessments , Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures
• Reporting as required
