Job summary

Fueling Brains Academy in Calgary seeks an on-call teacher to join the West 85th Campus. The role supports early childhood education, fosters emergent, project-based learning, and collaborates with teachers to create a caring, engaging classroom.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of child experience, an ECE credential, and a First Aid certificate. We value teamwork, creativity, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience working with children.
• Early Childhood Certification - ECE Level 1/2.
• First Aid certification is required or may be obtained upon hire.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within past 6 months or upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Make a difference every day by guiding and supporting children in learning activities.
• Spark imagination and help children discover new things daily.
• Plan open-ended activities aligned with a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Supervise the classroom and maintain a safe, caring environment.
• Report child progress to the Director or parents regularly.
• Assist with self-care tasks and daily routines as needed.
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers and Program Supervisors on lesson plans.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Make a difference every day!
• Spark imagination, build self-esteem, and help children discover new things each day.
• Guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn.
• Encourage children through role modeling and guidance to respect themselves and others.
• Collaborate with classroom teams for planning and implementation of weekly lesson plans.
• Plan open-ended activities with an emphasis on process orientation and a developmentally appropriate curriculum with age-appropriate and individualized activities.
• Be responsible for reporting challenges, successes, and competencies of each student to the Director or to parents on a regular basis.
• Supervise the classroom, helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and respect themselves and others.
• Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring, and safe environment for the children.
• Assist children with self-care (i.e. dressing, diapering, feeding).
• Other duties as assigned by Lead Teachers and Program Supervisors.

What You Bring (preferred Skills And Qualifications)

• Minimum one year of experience working with children
• Early Childhood Certification - ECE Level 1/2
• Reggio-inspired or Montessori experience is an asset.
• Current First Aid Certificate (may be obtained upon hire)
• Criminal Record Check, with Vulnerable Sector Check, within the past 6 months (may be obtained upon hire)
