Syilx Forestry Working Group is seeking on-call seasonal Fisheries Field Technicians in Penticton to support the Sockeye broodstock collection and field monitoring program. Work will be September to October, up to 40 hrs/week with flexibility for weekend shifts and some Central Okanagan fieldwork.
Applicants should be comfortable near streams and in varying fall weather. Prior fisheries field experience and safety training are assets; commitment and reliability are essential.
The Okanagan Nation Alliance (ONA) is the Tribal Council for the Syilx Okanagan Nation. The ONA's mandate is to advance, assert, support and preserve the Syilx Okanagan Nation Title and Rights. Further, the ONA is charged with providing members with a forum to discuss and form positions of common concern.
The ONA is currently seeking to employ Fisheries Technicians. The work term will be between September to the end of October (possible extension into November), with up to 40 hours per week, but will vary with field schedules. As a Fisheries Technician based out of Penticton, you will undertake duties associated with the Okanagan Nation Alliance's Sockeye broodstock collection and field monitoring program in the South Okanagan. Successful applicants should be comfortable working in and near streams, under potentially inclement fall weather. Due to most projects being time sensitive, it is critical that the applicant is committed and dedicated to on-the-job responsibilities.
Some fieldwork may occur in the Central Okanagan, with one or two on-call positions potentially available.
Up to 40 hrs/week; on-call with flexible work hours (e.g. some early/late shifts and weekends)
$18.25 - $32.07 per hour based on relevant education, experience and responsibilities
