Job summary

Eastern Townships School Board is compiling a pool of candidates for sporadic, on-call and short-term caretaker roles in its schools and centres. The position covers maintenance tasks, preventive upkeep, and coordination of work for building areas under 9,275 m2, with emphasis on safety and timely repairs.

Expect responsibilities include cleaning, equipment maintenance, and monitoring heating, ventilation and lighting systems.

Qualifications

• Have three years of pertinent experience.
• Have a general knowledge of heating, ventilation, lighting, and alarm systems overseen by caretakers.
• Have a basic knowledge of the main building trades.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the cleanliness of the premises.
• Organize and carry out maintenance work by performing Maintenance Workman Class II duties.
• Ensure that the maintenance apparatus and equipment are kept in good condition.
• Inspect lighting, heating, and ventilation systems and ensure heating equipment operates.
• Carry out preventive upkeep and minor repairs as needed.
• Report breakdowns and coordinate repairs; monitor work of others.
• Repair doors, windows, and furniture; may assemble/install material.
• Ensure security against fire and theft; monitor visitors, students, staff as required.
