Job summary

Pelmorex is seeking a Master Control Switcher to monitor and troubleshoot live feeds across Canada. The role requires handling automation systems, coordinating with engineering, and ensuring on-air quality.

The position is on-site in Oakville and on-call with shift rotations to cover 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, and 10pm-6am. Ideal candidates have a Broadcast/Communications diploma and at least one year in Master Control, with experience on Ross Carbonite and related broadcast tech.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Broadcast or Communications and a minimum of 1 year experience in a Master Control environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ross Carbonite Switcher, WidePath automation systems and MVP monitoring system is desirable.
  • Experience with automation systems and broadcast equipment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor The Weather Networks & MeteoMedia feeds to ensure technical standards are met and procedures are followed.
  • Respond to scheduling irregularities in automation promptly and inform appropriate personnel.
  • Troubleshoot on-air issues and route live video/audio sources.
  • Record or ingest live programming and manage schedules in the automation system, video server or archives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to report and resolve technical issues.
  • Operate the Ross Carbonite 1 ME switcher and Yamaha audio mixer.
  • Support live on-air hits and recording off-air features as needed.
