Job summary

Aboriginal People's Television Network Incorporated in Winnipeg is seeking a part-time Master Control Operator to support our Operations team. The role covers 14-21 hours per week and requires monitoring and maintaining broadcast quality to deliver Indigenous storytelling across channels.

The operator will manage automation systems, monitor audio/video quality, review logs, adjust playlists, and coordinate with News, Broadcast Technology, Scheduling & Traffic for quality assurance.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline is required.
  • Proficiency with internet, MS Office and broadcast industry technology.
  • Ability to perform shift work in a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate existing and new automation systems.
  • Monitor audio and video quality of all programming.
  • Review daily broadcast logs and adjust playlists to match schedule.
  • Coordinate with News, Broadcast Technology, Scheduling & Traffic for quality assurance.
  • Perform QC checks of media assets for all platforms.

Salary Range: $54,878.08 To $72,263.96 Annually

Highlights of this opportunity:

  • Operate a variety of existing and new automation systems;
  • Monitor audio and video quality of all linear and non-linear programming;
  • Review daily broadcast logs and manually adjust play lists as required to ensure proper network program timing according to schedule;
  • Work closely and communicate with other related departments, specifically News & Current Affairs, Broadcast Technology, as well as Scheduling & Traffic, for quality assurance and control;
  • Perform Quality Control checks of media assets for linear and non-linear platforms to ensure APTN specifications are met.

Your accomplishments and experience include:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline with proven, related experience;
  • Proficiency with internet, MS office and broadcast industry technology and solid keyboarding skills;
  • The ability to perform shift work in a 24/7 environment;
  • Strong work ethic with an emphasis on team commitment;
  • Experience working with an Indigenous organization as well as knowledge of Indigenous cultural perspectives is an asset.
