We are looking for an On-Call Elementary Teacher to support students at the Okanagan Indian Band Cultural Immersion School, nkmaplqs i snmamayatn kl sqilxwtet.

SUPPORTS NEEDED:

• Perform the regular duties of the Classroom Teacher who you are filling in for.
• Follow established yearly overviews, unit plans, and day plans.
• Support the student-centered learning program in place which enhances the explicit programs our school delivers.
• Integrate students with disabilities and challenges in a positive and respectful manner.
• Supervision duties to include classroom supervision, field trips, & recess/lunch supervision.
• Implement positive discipline when required in accordance with the School Handbook, which includes Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice.
• Ensure children have a safe and secure learning environment.
• Attend Language and Culture classes daily with students to ensure classroom management and to learn language alongside students. This includes local outings which may include hiking.
• In case of extended teacher absence, collaborate to complete student report cards and interim reports using school-wide format.
• Classroom supervision and management and supervise field trips and other supervision duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education, or equivalent.
• Valid BC teaching certificate issued by the Teacher Regulation Branch or in the process of obtaining.
• Current First Aid/CPR certificate or willing to obtain.

Preference may be given to those having knowledge of the Okanagan culture and traditions.
