Job summary

Sagamok Anishnawbek is seeking a Casual Educational Assistant (Supply EA) to provide educational support in classrooms as needed. The role works under the direction of the SERT or Principal and contributes to student learning, classroom routines, supervision, and IEP implementation when applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AQ in Native as a Second Language, Special Education, or Outdoor Education is an asset.
• Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek culture, traditions, language, and history.

Responsibilities

• Accept and fulfill casual assignments as directed by the Principal, SERT, or designate.
• Support students individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
• Assist with implementing IEPs, accommodations, and behaviour support strategies.
• Support classroom activities, routines, supervision, and resource preparation.
• Promote student safety, well-being, independence, and positive behaviour.
• Help maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Communicate professionally with staff, students, families, and administration while maintaining confidentiality.
• Follow school policies, procedures, and directives, and complete required documentation and training.
• Provide temporary support to Shki-Waase Aaban Daycare during staffing shortages, as assigned.
