Job summary

Share is recruiting for a Community Cleaner to assist in cleaning public lands within Vancouver. The role follows safety instructions, uses provided gear, and disposes of trash per crew leader guidance.

It may involve reporting items associated with homelessness with appropriate procedures, and is limited to public areas. The position is on-call with typical full-time expectations of 32-40 hours per week, offering opportunities to transition into permanent roles and to gain soft skills through

Qualifications

• Ability to use cleaning agents such as soap, polish, disinfectants, etc.
• Ability to walk, bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to do overhead work.
• Ability to learn the proper use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Strong ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and all other policies outlined by SHARE.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of sidewalks and designated areas throughout Vancouver city limits.
• Perform tasks such as cleaning empty lots, clearing street drains of debris, and raking leaves.
• Load and unload items such as litter, furniture, appliances, tires and disposables to designated wasteland.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Distribute garbage bags to individuals residing outdoors.
• Support the driver in monitoring disposables collected through the program tracking system.
• Participate in employment support services as required (e.g., PIC Career Academy, WorkSource).
• Complete a resume, attend job coaching and case management meetings, and perform job search tasks weekly or bi-weekly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
