Job summary

South Bow is seeking a Project Safety Specialist based in Calgary, AB, or Houston, TX. The role focuses on evaluating contractor safety management systems and providing Health & Safety support to enable risk management and protect personnel.

The successful candidate will lead safety initiatives, translate regulations into actionable guidance, and drive continuous improvement across all project phases. Strong knowledge of OSHA/COHSR and contractor management is required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in health and safety, or an OHS cert, or an equivalent combo.
• At least six years of health and safety experience in oil and gas pipeline ops or construction.
• Knowledge of occupational health, personal and process safety programs, and contractor management.
• Strong safety expertise including contractor management, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
• Knowledge of federal, provincial and state health and safety legislation (OSHA/COHSR).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead safety strategy with internal and external stakeholders.
• Translate regulations and standards into practical guidance for projects.
• Advise project teams on safety requirements across all project phases.
• Assess contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Document findings and work with contractors to close gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Identify high-energy hazards and implement risk reduction measures.
• Evaluate contractor safety performance through audits and field inspections.
• Lead third-party project safety inspections and maintain qualification records in ISN.
• Develop tools to evaluate contractor safety management systems.
• Reassess approved contractors' safety programs and apply lessons learned.
