Position Summary

The OTA/PTA is an integral member of the inter-professional team, acting as a clinical resource and supporting the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy professions by performing clinical duties as assigned by licensed therapists.

Duties

The RCC at Buttonwood is a 30-bed unit aimed at improving patient restoration and maintaining social, cognitive, and physical functioning through patient-specific, goal-based service planning. Patients do not require acute care but need therapy to improve independence. The RCC also aims to reduce pressures on acute care hospitals, decrease long-term care placements, and lower re-admission risks.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a community college certificate program or a recognized post-secondary OTA/PTA diploma or Rehabilitation Assistant certificate
• Standard First Aid/CPR certification
• Up to one year of relevant acute care experience (preferred)
• Experience with cognitive treatments and neurological patients (preferred)
• Client service orientation and effective communication skills
• Knowledge of OT/PT equipment and materials
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team and handle challenging situations
• Self-directed work ability and stress management skills
