Job summary

AgeCare invites applications for an Occupational Therapy Aide to assist the Occupational Therapist in planning and delivering therapy programs for residents in long-term care settings. The role focuses on enabling residents to function at their maximum potential and includes equipment adjustments, repairs, and inventory management in community-based settings.

The position supports delivery of therapy services, maintains equipment and records, and contributes to infection control and client care

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education is an asset.
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
• Completion of a Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse population.
• Prior experience in continuing care/gerontology preferred.
• Advocating for the role of occupational therapy to help improve the lives of residents.
• Willingness to provide a high level of client service to all demographics.
• A desire to help others with compassion and empathy.

The Opportunity

The Occupational Therapy Aide works under the direction of the Occupational Therapist to help solve physical challenges that patients have with daily activities. They help to assist with implantation care plan, wheelchair adjustments and equipment inventory. They assist the therapist in providing additional training and education to residents in the communities in which they work

This position assists in assessing, planning, implementation, and ongoing delivery of therapy programs to encourage residents to function at their maximum potential. The key component to their job is repairs on wheelchairs/walkers and making adjustments to these to meet functional resident goals.
