This Occupational Therapist II (OT II) role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive, client-centered care across multiple sites and areas of care. Based at the Westlock Healthcare Centre, you will support a diverse patient population while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. You will practice with a high degree of clinical autonomy, managing competing priorities, coordinating care across environments, and making informed decisions to optimize patient outcomes. The role provides a broad scope of practice where you will be directly involved in supporting safe transitions and enhancing quality of life for patients across the care continuum. OT IIs in this setting build meaningful relationships with patients and families, gain exposure to a wide variety of cases and strengthen their adaptability and problem-solving abilities. Description:

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines.You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification in Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Preferred Qualifications:

New grads are welcome to apply. Preferably one year experience in a rural generalist position and/or acute care. AADL Authorizer Status and experience with dysphagia are assets to this position.
