A healthcare authority in British Columbia is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team, providing essential therapy services to Mental Health and Substance Use clients. The role involves working independently and collaboratively, offering consultations, and educating clients and caregivers. Candidates should have relevant occupational therapy qualifications and experience, emphasizing patient and staff safety in alignment with the organization’s vision and values.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Working without general supervision, the Occupational Therapist works as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing occupational therapy services to Mental Health & Substance Use clients and their caregivers, referred to the team. Is a consultant/resource to referral agencies, care facilities, and caregivers. Provides general occupational therapy clinical services to team clients. Participates in the provision of education to the client, the caregiver, the service provider and the public related to Mental Health & Substance Use.
Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). One (1) to two (2) years' experience working with Mental Health and Substance Use Services clients. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
