Are you a registered Occupational Therapist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Home and Community Care Rehab department.

In accordance with professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia, the Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of residents/clients/patients (‘the client’) and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes in inpatient, outpatient, residential and community settings. The Occupational Therapist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the profession and department; participates in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education; and provides work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the rehabilitation team. The Occupational Therapist provides input to the Manager by participating in the development of guidelines and procedures, research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the department. Performs administrative duties as required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Thursday, Days - 08:00 to 15:48

Bulkley Lodge is a stand-alone, long-term care home located in central Smithers, approximately five minutes from Bulkley Valley District Hospital. There are 53 beds including two respite beds plus three short stay beds. Bulkley Lodge provides daily therapeutic recreation services. Pastoral and spiritual services are provided by the Smithers Ministerial Group with regular, on-site spiritual care. There is a volunteer program in place to facilitate resident participation in social activities and outings. There is also an on-site, integrated community Adult Day Program, operating 7 days a week.

Smithers Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town’s Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from the surrounding communities that access services. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school, one alternate format school for grades 9-12 and Coast Mountain College.
