Occupational Health Nurse

This position reports to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager and is based in Guelph, Ontario.

Role reports to: EHS Manager

Location: Gueph, Ontario

What you will do

The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive health and safety services to employees. This includes conducting health assessments, managing work-related injuries and illnesses, implementing OH promotion programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant health regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Health Assessments and Surveillance

o Conduct pre-employment health assessments and periodic health screenings, including preplacement assessments and medical surveillance testing

o Conduct health surveillance and monitoring for workplace hazards.

o Evaluate employee fitness for duty and return-to-work assessments.

o Evaluate occupational health hazards and develop and implement applicable prevention and treatment practices

• Injury and Illness Management

o Provide first aid and emergency care for work-related injuries and illnesses.

o Manage cases of work-related injuries, coordinating care and rehabilitation, including managing modified work offers, reporting to Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and other follow up, as required.

o Maintain accurate records of injuries and illnesses and report as required.

o Support non-occupational illness and injuries (Short-Term Disability/Long-Term Disability) in conjunction with Human Resources, and external STD/LTD partners.

• Health Promotion and Education

o Develop and deliver health promotion and wellness programs.

o Educate employees about workplace health and safety practices.

o Promote healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care measures.

• Compliance and Recordkeeping

o Ensure compliance with OH and safety regulations, including but not limited to Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC).

o Maintain confidential employee health records and ensure data privacy.

o Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and management.

o Ensure data integrity and accuracy including periodic review of Injury and Illness Data in Kenvue data management systems

o Develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures for relevant OH and EHS processes

• Collaboration and Support

o Work closely with HR, EHS, Circle of Care teams and management to support employee health.

o Participate in health and safety committees and contribute to policy development.

o Provide support and guidance to employees regarding health-related concerns.

o Partner with global OH team members to ensure compliance with Kenvue OH standards and applicable best practices.

o Participate in continuing education programs

• Emergency Response

o Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.

o Provide training regarding first aid and emergency procedures to employees.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field or equivalent education

• 4-6 years of nursing experience

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

• Certification in Basic Life Support and First Aid

Desired Qualifications

• Certification in OH Nursing

• 2 years in OH (Preferred)

• Experience in case management and emergency response (Preferred)
