Clinic Details — Royal Inland Hospital

The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people, and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 62,000 visits per year.

The new Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower at RIH opened in the summer of 2022. The tower includes a new operating room and surgical services suite, additional beds, obstetric services, labour and delivery, respiratory therapy services, mental health and substance use inpatient units, and a rooftop helipad.

Kamloops offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services. Specialty services include Acute Inpatient Psychiatry, Tertiary Inpatient and Community Psychiatric Services, non-interventional Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Gastroenterology and others. Support services include: a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, and CT scan, and Echocardiography. RIH also features TPA Stroke, Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Orthopedic Surgery, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage.

Practice Details

We are seeking an 8th colleague to join our collegial team at Royal Inland Hospital. We are able to practice to the scope of our specialty; our nursery cares for babies 30-weeks and up. There are 1200-1400 births a year for which we primarily in a consultative role. We are well supported by a local OB Internal Medicine service and the Diabetes Education Program. We each average two to three surgical days per month, in addition to outpatient ambulatory care procedure time. Our department is proud to support the UBC Physician Training at the MSIA Level, the FP Resident Level and the OB/GYN R4 Level. Both experienced and new Canadian graduates are invited to apply. Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service
Estimated Remuneration: $400,000-$500,000

  • Fee for service + MOCAP for call
  • Relocation Assistance: Applicable for 1.0 FTE positions, $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location (with eligible receipts) *Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer
