Island Health in Port Alberni is seeking a full-time Obstetrician/Gynecologist to join a collegial medical staff at West Coast General Hospital and community sites. The role includes full-scope OBGYN services with OR access, and Tier 3 obstetrics (>36 weeks), supporting MWs and FP-OB, with about 250 deliveries annually.

Remuneration features RSA incentives including recruitment and relocation, plus fee premiums and CME support.

Job description

Island Health has an opening for a full-time Obstetrician/Gynecologist in the community of Port Alberni.

West Coast General Hospital is a modern hospital (built in 2001) with 52 acute care beds (3 ICU). Clinical services include 24-hour emergency room, ambulatory care, acute medical/surgical and psychiatry services, cardio pulmonary, diabetes education, laboratory, medical imaging (CT scanner), nutrition counseling, pharmacy and physiotherapy services. Clinical specialists include anesthesiology, general surgery, urology, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics and radiology complete with PACs imaging system.

This position will provide full scope OBGYN services, with OR access (including hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and open cases), andTier 3 obstetrics (>36 weeks), consultative care supporting MWs and FP-OB for approximately 250 deliveries a year.

This will be the second OBGYN position in the community, and you will join a collegial medical staff of Family Practitioners, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General & Subspecialty Internists, Pediatrics, and Radiology.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the RuralSubsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Fee Premium - 7.98%
• Annual FlatFee - $12,366.72
• Rural CME starting at $3,000/annum in year 3&4 incommunity, increasing to a maximum of $6,000/annum after 4 years.
