BI & ETL Engineer

Summary: This is a permanent position, part of the IT team, and plays a critical role in the DBA team. The BI & ETL Engineer is responsible for designing and creating BI interfaces and ETL processes to the OLAP data warehouse, providing level-2 technical support for database programming, performing data analysis, developing forecasting models, and creating reports using OBIEE, ODI, and Oracle DB. This position also handles patching, upgrading OBIEE, ODI, Oracle DB, customizing reports in OBIEE, creating and adjusting ETL jobs in ODI, optimizing processes, and expanding OLAP data structures.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design of analytics solutions supporting enterprise-level reporting projects, including requirements analysis, project scoping, data analysis, and business logic transformation.
• Modify and optimize repository layers, models, and subject areas.
• Collaborate with BI System Analyst to create reports using OBIEE, BI Publisher; profile data for reporting requirements.
• Design, develop, and support visualization tools such as dashboards, scorecards, scheduled reports, ad-hoc queries, and decision support tools.
• Analyze and optimize queries, review OLAP data structures for tuning.
• Implement, document, and perform OBIEE administration processes and policies.

Perform detailed data analysis for OLAP and ETL jobs, design, troubleshoot, and optimize ETL jobs, provide data cleansing input, document ETL processes, and support database schema changes. Ensure high availability and support for OBIEE, ODI, and Oracle DBs through system administration, patches, and upgrades. Communicate status and support levels to management and assist technical support as needed.

Key Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• 5+ years supporting enterprise BI applications, including OBIEE maintenance and administration.
• 3+ years designing ETL jobs with ODI, troubleshooting, tuning, and migration experience.
• 3+ years supporting Oracle databases with PL/SQL and SQL.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with RHEL systems, WebLogic, Fusion Middleware, Identity Management, Linux tasks, and networking concepts.
• Knowledge of Linux OS, storage, and networking.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
