Job summary

Cottonwoods Care Centre in Kelowna, BC is seeking a Casual Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team. The role supports daily unit operations and patient care, with shifts scheduled across days. This casual position offers variety and opportunities to grow within the team.

Responsibilities include processing physician orders, charting, and coordinating patient appointments. Required is a Nursing Unit Clerk certificate or equivalent, Grade 12, and a 40 wpm typing test.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 plus one year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Nursing Unit Clerk certificate or proof of program completion.
  • Typing test of minimum 40 wpm with recent validation.
  • Willingness to work days as a Casual Nursing Unit Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, process, coordinate and transcribe physicians’ orders.
  • Act as a communication link for the Unit.
  • Schedule, book and coordinate patient/resident appointments.
  • Assemble and maintain patient/resident charts; input data into systems such as MARS, Kardex, Careplan and EHR.
  • Perform clerical duties: keyboarding, data entry, filing, reporting, and minute taking.
  • Maintain timekeeping records and submit to payroll systems.
  • Monitor patient/resident call signals and relay messages to staff.

Cottonwoods Care Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Nursing Unit Assistant to join their team in Kelowna BC!


Hours of work are days 08:00 to 18:00, 08:00 to 16:00, 10:30 to 16:30


Days off: Rotating

What will you work on

Duties


  • Prioritizing, processing, coordinating and transcribing physicians’ orders;

  • Acting as a communication link for the Unit;

  • Scheduling, booking and coordinating patient/resident appointments;

  • Assembling and maintaining patient/resident charts, inputs patient/resident data and transcribing information into relevant systems such as MARS, Kardex, Careplan, charts or electronic health record systems;

  • Clerical duties - keyboarding, data entry, filing, compiling, preparing and maintaining statistics, producing reports, delivering and picking up items, maintaining unit supply levels and meeting minutes;

  • Maintaining timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submits/enters to payroll systems;

  • Observing patient/resident call signals and relays messages to the appropriate personnel.
